We require pickers to assist with the harvest of our crop, commencing in September through to the end of October/beginning of November.

Following our harvest we require assistance with the packing of our crop in the packhouse. The work in the packhouse is fast paced and quality driven. You will need to meet hygiene standards (see the notice below) and be able to identify the apples and their colours clearly. You will also need to be capable of lifting trays weighing approximately 10 kg onto pallets. This work is usually available through to the end of February depending on market conditions.

After packing there are usually thousands of trees to plant and hundreds of thousands of trees to prune. This is physically demanding work, however full training is given.

As in any business, productivity is an important aspect which is measured and recorded - the extremes of the UK weather rarely stop our outside operations.

We are able to provide accommodation and pay in accordance with the Agricultural Wages Order.

Food Hygiene Standards notice

As a food production site, Hill Farm Orchards Ltd requires its employees to maintain high personal hygiene standards to prevent our products from becoming contaminated.

In particular, applicants should note that jewellery is not permitted in the production areas. Where jewellery needs to be worn for ethnic, medical or religious reasons, individuals need to declare this at induction (a register is kept). Body piercing rings or studs are not permitted on exposed parts of the body.

Individuals are required to sign a personal hygiene statement on induction.
